Dolphin Swimming - Akaroa - 1 Child - (8 - 15years)
This gift enables a child to experience the ultimate marine adventure, a close encounter with the dolphins. They will have opportunities for great photographs and interaction with Hectors dolphins - the smallest and rarest of the worlds dolphins. Instruction on how to approach the dolphins, their expected behaviour and general information about them, will be given on the way out to find them in a high speed catamaran with an enclosed cabin.
All necessary gear is supplied, wet suits, masks, snorkels, flippers and hats and gloves if needed. The trip is 1 ½ to 2 hours depending on where in the harbour they are. The Canterbury Cat 2 has been specifically designed for dolphin swimming with rails at the back folding down to become ladders and extra safe jet units.
After the swim, step into the heated cabin, enjoy a complimentary hot chocolate and a hot shower is provided when we arrive back at the main wharf.
Children between the ages of 8-12 years must be accompanied by an adult in the water and both must be a confident swimmers.
It is not guaranteed that you will be able to swim with the dolphins, under some conditions viewing only is possible for the safety and wellbeing of passengers and dolphins. It is guaranteed that you will see dolphins or you will have the opportunity to repeat the trip again free until you do.
Note that the minimum age for swimming with the dolphins is 8 years and you must be accompanied by an adult in the water.
