Experience the thrill of an interactive Cheetah Encounter at Wellington Zoo. Find out what a cheetah smells like, how their fur feels and what they sound like when they purr! Go into our special intimate encounter space and meet the cheetahs. Our zoo keepers will tell you why these animals are endangered and what you can do to help them.
Learn all about our cheetahs Charlie & Delta and the role they play as ambassadors for their species. This is a hands-on encounter under strict supervision from our expert staff.
Your guide will be with you at all times during the tour. Staff at Wellington Zoo will take all practical steps to reduce the risks in their activities to acceptable levels, supply instruction on safe practices, and make participants aware of the level of risk in each activity. However all activities require a shared responsibility.
Access to the rest of Wellington Zoo is included with this experience.
This session runs Monday to Friday (except Wednesdays) and alternate weekends at 11.30 am and 2.30 pm (please confirm times when booking). The weather does not normally affect this tour, but this can be confirmed on the day.
Gift Restrictions
The minimum age requirement is 14 years old, and you must be at least 1.4 m tall. If you are under 18 years you will need to be accompanied by a paying adult.
Minimum: 2 people, maximum 4 people.
Due to the possibility of unforeseeable animal health or staffing issues, Wellington Zoo cannot guarantee that all animals and exhibits specified will be available. All participants must ensure that they are wearing appropriate clothing and closed footwear.
